AZCON Holding Announces Passenger and Freight Transportation Performance for the First Half of 2026

AZCON Holding has announced the passenger and cargo transportation performance of the transport sector for the first half of 2026.

Passenger transportation performance

During the reporting period, the average daily number of passengers transported by Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) increased to 30,000, marking a 17% rise compared to the previous period. The average daily number of passengers carried by BakuBus also increased by 24%, reaching 643,000.

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) served a total of 1 million 945 thousand passengers, representing a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. The number of transit passengers reached 277,000, reflecting a 41% increase.

At the Baku Metro, the average daily passenger volume increased by 0.5% compared to the corresponding period of 2025, reaching 600,000 passengers.

Cargo transportation performance

Positive growth was also recorded in cargo transportation. The total volume of transit cargo transported by ADY reached 3 million 625 thousand tonnes, representing a 9% increase compared to the previous year. Transit cargo transported via the East–West (Middle Corridor) reached 1 million 958 thousand tonnes, up 12% year-on-year.

Container handling at the Port of Baku increased by 15%, reaching 61,000 TEU.

At the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), cargo transported by dry cargo vessels amounted to 894,000 tonnes, marking a 34% increase, while tanker transportation totaled 1 million 709 thousand tonnes, representing a 25% decrease.

Overall, the results achieved during the first half of 2026 contributed to improving the efficiency of transport services, strengthening the country's transit potential, and supporting the sustainable development of the transport sector.
