Baku Metro

Considering the importance of combining two principal areas such as construction and passenger transportation into a single economic establishment, in accordance with the Order No. 289 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated February 27, 2014, a state-owned "Baku Metro" Closed Joint Stock Company was established through the reorganization of the Baku Metro and the "Azertunelmetrotikinti" Joint Stock Company.  

On December 28, 2015, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated the opening of the second exit at "Elmlər Akademiyası" station. On April 19, 2016, “Avtovaghzal" and "Memar Ajami" stations of the Purple Line, included in the first priority direction of Baku Metro's perspective development plan, were opened to passengers.  

On May 29, 2021, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, “8 Noyabr” station was put into operation, and on December 23, 2022, “Khojasan” station and “Khojasan” electrical depot were put into operation. Thus, the number of metro stations on 3 lines with a total length of 40.7 kilometers increased to 27.
