In recent years, Azerbaijan has emerged as one of Eurasia’s key transportation and logistics hubs, further strengthening its strategic position within international cargo transportation networks. In this process, maritime transportation and the shipbuilding industry play a particularly important role. As one of the largest industrial enterprises in the Caspian region, the Baku Shipyard contributes significantly both to the modernization of the country’s maritime fleet and to the expansion of Azerbaijan’s industrial and export potential through the execution of international orders.

Vugar Mirzazada, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of AZCON Holding, and Ruslan Talibov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baku Shipyard LLC, gave an interview to AzTV, discussing the shipyard’s current operations, international orders, new projects, and future development prospects.

During the interview, it was noted that the foundation of Baku Shipyard, one of the key outcomes of the country’s leadership’s forward-looking policy in the transportation, logistics, and industrial sectors, was laid in 2011. Today, the shipyard has evolved into one of the most advanced shipbuilding and ship repair facilities in the Caspian region.

Following its integration into the management structure of AZCON Holding, the shipyard entered a new phase of development. Recent initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, optimizing production processes, enhancing management practices, and ensuring more effective utilization of resources have enabled the company to expand its production capacity, increase productivity, and significantly grow its order portfolio.

Today, Baku Shipyard is recognized as a reliable partner both domestically and internationally, standing out as a modern industrial enterprise with strong competitive advantages. These achievements reflect the success of Azerbaijan’s consistent state policy focused on the development of the transportation, logistics, and industrial sectors, as well as the positive outcomes of the institutional reforms implemented in recent years.

At the same time, the construction of newly launched container vessels, each with a capacity of 780 TEU, will make a significant contribution to further strengthening Azerbaijan’s transportation and logistics capabilities and reinforcing the country’s position as a regional transit hub.
