A keel-laying ceremony was held at Baku Shipyard LLC, a company of AZCON Holding, celebrating the commencement of construction of two 780 TEU container vessels intended to operate in the Caspian sea. Recognized as one of the key milestones in the shipbuilding process, the ceremony marks the official start of the ship's structural assembly phase.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the strategic cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates. Built in partnership with AD Ports Group, one of the leading port and logistics operators, these vessels will contribute to strengthening connectivity between the region’s key trade hubs and fostering the development of regional maritime transportation and logistics cooperation.

The ships, expected to be completed by 2028, will play an important role in strengthening the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), which connects Asia and Europe through the Caspian Sea, the South Caucasus, and the Black Sea.

It should be noted that since commencing operations, Baku Shipyard LLC has successfully completed a total of 14 shipbuilding projects and carried out repairs on more than 170 vessels. Currently, 11 of the 17 vessels included in the shipyard’s order portfolio are under construction, while the remaining 6 are at the design stage.

Notably, a contract for cooperation in #shipbuilding was signed last month between Baku Shipyard LLC, a company of AZCON Holding, and KTZ Express Shipping, a company of Samruk-Kazyna JSC group. The contract provides for the construction of two dry cargo vessels in compliance with modern international standards, bringing the number of ships built under international orders to 4.
